The decree was presented by President Petr Pavel and Minister of Education Mikuláš Bek at a ceremonial event in the Great Hall of the Karolinum in Prague on 16 June 2025. This prestigious appointment, representing the highest academic title in the Czech Republic, is a profound recognition of her scholarly dedication, exceptional teaching, and deep commitment to the field of English Studies.

Professor Dontcheva-Navrátilová is a leading expert in discourse analysis, intercultural persuasion in specialised discourse, and metadiscourse, and has made significant contributions to English language teacher education. Her extensive research portfolio includes a focus on the dynamics of communication in professional settings, the principles of effective cross-cultural communication, and the structure of academic writing.

Furthermore, she has successfully guided numerous doctoral students through their studies. Most recently, she supervised the award-winning doctoral research of Dr. Christopher Williams, whose dissertation on Czech students' argumentative essays was recognized with the Vice-Rector's Award.
